The Nigerian Defence Headquarters revealed that between 2016 and 2022, 1935 repentant Boko Haram terr*rists who underwent deradicalization at Bulumkutu camp in Borno State were reintegrated into Nigerian society.
The disclosure was made by Gen.
Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff, during a lecture on non-kinetic operations and the Armed Forces at a national security course organized by the Defence Intelligence Agency. The focus was on
“Winning Hearts and Minds for National
Cohesion and Development”.

Operation Safe Corridor’s non-kinetic efforts led to the surrender of over 2000
Boko Haram members by 2017, including 67% from the Abubakar Shekau faction.
Additionally, 51,828 terrorists and their family members surrendered between July 2021 and May 4, 2022, with a total of 106,000 surrendering in the North East.
The program is said to be aimed at enhancing security experts’ understanding of psychological operations and strategic communication dynamics.
