A fire outbreak on Sunday night destroyed properties worth millions of Naira at Ajah Market in Lagos, ravaging several shops containing combustible materials.
Dr Olufemi Oke-Sayintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed that no lives were lost and no injuries were recorded during the incident.
He stated, “On arrival at the scene at 10:10 p.m., the Shark Response Team found several shops engulfed in flames. While the exact cause of the fire is unknown, investigations are ongoing.”

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) worked alongside the LASEMA Response Team to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings. The teams also managed a hostile crowd as they battled to contain the flames and protect the remaining properties.
The Search and Rescue operation has now concluded, with both agencies continuing efforts to extinguish the fire fully.
