In the early 1940’s….. the Sadaurna of Sokoto was accused of embezzlement and was charged to. Sharia court for prosecution in Sokoto.
He rejected this and said he wanted to be tried in a British court.
There was no lawyer to defend him in the North. He reached out to the southwest to solicit for a lawyer.
The lawyer that went to the North to defend him was Bode Thomas.

Sadaurna’s great grand father brought the sharia penal code to the Sokoto Caliphate after launching a Jihad that turned Hausa princes to slaves and second class citizens in the land of their ancestors. His name was Usman Dan Fodio.
He rejected sharia court for himself, but after independence when he came to power, he said he would turn the new independent country to the estate of his great grandfather and uphold his dream to conquer in the name of Islam until they reach the sea.
