President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced major changes in the hierarchy of Nigeria’s Armed Forces as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s national security architecture.
In a statement released on Friday, the President approved the appointment of General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa.
Also appointed are Major-General W. Shaibu as the Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as the Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as the Chief of Naval Staff. The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, will retain his position.
President Tinubu calledoutgoing service chiefs for their “patriotic service and dedicated leadership.”

He urged the newly appointed officers to “justify the confidence reposed in them” by upholding the values of professionalism, vigilance, and unity that define the Nigerian Armed Forces.
