Abdullahi Muhammad Dabo has regained his freedom after spending two weeks in the captivity of suspected bandits.
Conflict reporter Bakatsine announced Dabo’s release in a post on X on Friday.

Photos shared following his release showed the apparent physical impact of his prolonged captivity. One image, reportedly taken before his abduction, showed him in good health, while another taken after his release appeared to show significant weight loss.
Similarly, one Abubakar Lawal, who identified himself as a digital creator, announced that Dabo had regained his freedom.
“My brother, Abdullahi Muhammad Dabo, who was kidnapped, has now been freed,” he said in a post on Thursday.
“Jazakumullahu khairan (May Allah reward you with goodness) for all your prayers and financial assistance. May Allah reward you abundantly.”
Shehu Hassan, who had announced Dabo’s abduction along the Bakori–Guga Road in Katsina State on July 3, 2026, also confirmed his release in a Facebook post on Thursday.
“We pray to God to save the remaining people in their place and protect us and reward us.”
His release has brought relief to his family and loved ones after weeks of uncertainty.
However, many other kidnapping victims remain in captivity across different parts of the country as insecurity continues to fuel abductions for ransom.
Details surrounding the circumstances of Dabo’s release, including whether any ransom was paid, were not immediately available.
