Nigerian Tiktoker, Abdullahi, Imprisoned For Calling For Protest Over Hardships

A Nigerian Tiktoker, Junaidu Abdullahi, also known as Abusalma, has been remanded in prison custody after posting a viral video calling for a mass protest over the current state of hardship in the country.

According to Daily Nigeria, Abusalma was arrested by security agents on Wednesday and taken to Abuja before being transferred to Kurmawa prison in Kano.
In the viral video, Abusalma called for peaceful protest against the government, citing the high cost of living and the inability of citizens to afford basic necessities.
He also criticized Islamic clerics who spoke against the protest, urging people to pull them down from the pulpit.

However, Abusalma later deleted the video and apologized to the clerics, calling on people to shun the protest to avoid breakdown of law and order.
The police have yet to comment on the matter, but Abusalma’s relative, Mustapha Hamza, confirmed his imprisonment.
This development has raised concerns about freedom of speech and the right to peaceful protest in Nigeria
