Tension as APC ward secretary hid for safety over alleged threat to life in Ogun

Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Iju Ward, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Council Area of Ogun State, Comrade Owolabi Aleshinloye known as OwoSports Alesh, has cried on the government to protect him from threat to life allegedly issued by prominent APC chieftain and Chairman of the Road Motorcycle Owners and Riders Organisation (ROMO) and National President of ROMAN, Alhaji Olusola Sotayo, popularly known as Solebo.
Sotayo was captured in a trending video on social media allegedly threatening Comrade Aleshinloye, the APC Secretary of Iju Ward.
Aleshinloye, a sports journalist told The Guardian that it was not the first time Sotayo has threatened him, alleging that Sotayo was angry for standing against imposition allegedly being perpetrated by him.
Speaking during the APC presidential primary meeting held at AUD Primary School, Iju, on Saturday, May 23, 2026, Sotayo was heard making remarks that have since sparked controversy and concern among party members.
He said: “I am saying it again; the person who calls himself the secretary of this ward has not been seen. I dare him, if he is bold enough, to come to the ward and present himself as secretary, and then he will see what happens to him.”
The statement was applauded and cheers from some supporters present at the event, further heightening concerns among party faithful and residents of the area.
Since the video surfaced online, it has generated widespread reactions across social media platforms, with many condemning the alleged threat and calling on party leaders to take urgent steps to address the situation before it escalates.

When The Guardian reached out to Sotaya, he said he never threatened him but told him the truth.
“I only spoke the truth; he’s the secretary of the word but he’s not taking part in the party’s activity.
“Anyone that calls himself an executive and did not participate in the party’s primaries should not come to the ward; that’s not a threat. I am the leader of the party and he can’t stand up to me. He met me in the party. I was born and schooled in Iju.”
“The ward can be divided at any time for not attending. We removed our youth leader who is in London while I pardoned him. He didn’t call to take excuse on his whereabouts.”
“I am ready for peace and he should stop saying I threatened him.”
