Farmer’s Bride, the emotionally resonant Nollywood drama produced by FilmOne Entertainment, last weekend secured a major win at the 11th Edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs), marking a proud moment for Filmhouse Group and its commitment to commercially successful, culturally relevant storytelling.

Commenting on the win, Group CEO of Filmhouse Group, Kene Okwuosa, said: “This award is a celebration of every voice, skill, and vision that brought Farmer’s Bride to life. It affirms the power of collaborative storytelling and reminds us why we invest in films that both move hearts and drive the industry forward. We are immensely proud of this recognition.”

Chief Content Officer of FilmOne Entertainment, Ladun Awobokun: “Farmer’s Bride was not just a film, it was a journey of cultural reflection, emotional depth, and audience connection. This win is a testament to our strategy of supporting stories that matter and pushing Nollywood to new creative and commercial heights.”

Farmer’s Bride was part of FilmOne’s growing slate of Nollywood originals and international acquisitions, aligning with its broader mission to elevate the African cinematic experience and showcase stories with global appeal.

The win adds to the company’s continued momentum in 2025, following key industry partnerships, box office leadership, and ongoing investments in content development and talent collaboration.

Also, Nollywood actor, Lateef Oladimeji who won the Best Indigenous Language, West Africa, at the AMVCA with his film, Lisabi, said: “The AMVCA gets better every year and the bar keeps increasing; that is a beautiful one from the organisers.

“We need motivation like this; everybody knows that Africa Magic is something everyone looks up to so if your work is being recognized, it means you are doing something good but also, if you’re not recognized, it doesn’t mean you are not doing something good.

“I am not under pressure, I don’t rush myself. I want to make a film better than Lisabi and we are so close to starting.

Speaking also, Nollywood actor, Daniel Etim Effiong, said: “The AMVCA has entered its master era, and I am excited for how far it has come and how they yearly celebrate the best of African talents. Awards mean recognition for all the hard work done.

On the impact of AMVCA on him, he said: “After being nominated a couple of times, I am inspired to be the best I can be at all times. Seeing other people go on stage to receive their awards spurs me to go on and be amongst the best.

On his plans, he said: “Amazing titles should be expected from me, and definitely, I am winning AMVCA next year and my movie is coming this year.
