students in the council We are giving 7000 students back to school package which comprises school uniforms, exercise books, pen, three sets of socks, a pair of sandals, bags and pencils.
We see this as something we must do because we are complimenting the Lagos State free primary and secondary school programme. We are also doing what is expected of us as a council, supporting our people.
Rewarding teachers will give them moral boost; with the Japa syndrome, people hope will be restored with this gesture. The best teacher will get a car next year.
This gesture will help parents alleviate the financial stress; the parents have been calling us to appreciate since we announced the gesture, I have got several calls but I told the parents that it’s our responsibility and ways of delivering on our promises. This will be a yearly programme in the council.
In addition to these, we will revive prize-giving day among our public primary school in order to encourage competition and engender excellence.
Today’s program underscores our unwavering commitment to giving our ‘future leaders’ solid educational foundation and it is a thing of delight to have your dignifying presence here.
We are not sitting on our oars neither are
we unmindful of the fact that our policy must be all-encompassing. In addition to the over 34 roads that this administration has either completely constructed or rehabilitated, others that are on-going across the various wards include are Alagbeji Primary Healthcare centre, the network of roads in Ajao Estate, Baale Street; liasamaja, the re-branding of the council premises and construction of Administrative Block as you must have noticed among other developmental projects. All these are due for completion soonest as contractors are put on their toes every day that passes.
Speaking during the programme, a parent Bose Lawal, said: “The programme will help the parents and reduce our financial burden. Things are costly in the market so, this go a long way.
“We will spend over N30, 000 to buy everything being given today. The bag alone is over N10,000. This is a challenge to other council chairmen.
Lawal who is also a food vendor in Ansar-ud-deen nursery and primary school, added: “Some children come to school without a book, some of the children were sent back home last week because the parents did not buy them any book.
Speaking also, best Head Teacher winner, said: “I am overwhelmed with joy. I have been working hard to ensure that the school do better and I believe that I deserve it. I am confident that I will be awarded next year too because I will work harder.
