*Break the Silence calls for Mohbad’s brother, aunty invitation by Police
*My phone buyer demanded N3 million, not me, says brother
Police officers and in-house security personnel at the Radisson Ikeja, Lagos yesterday prevented Mrs Abosede Aloba, the mother of late singer Ilerioluwa Promise, popularly known as Mohbad from physically confronting Nigerian movie producer, Yomi Fabiyi following a new twist that emerged on the singer’s death.
The actor who is also the Convener, Break the Silence Foundation yesterday called a press conference to give an update about its efforts on the matter, the gathering which the actor said the family got a wind of and attended. While intimating the press and mentioning a case where he was contacted through the Tiktok account of Adura Aloba to pay N3 million for a video showing what transpired the day Mohbad died, his mother interjected and insisted that Adura was not capable of making such demand.
The visibly angry mother stood up and pointed her finger at Fabiyi while shouting, “They killed Mohbad, and you want me to lose his brother too. He knows nothing about his brother’s death; do not implicate my son.”
On September 12, 2023, MohBad died at the age of 27 after being treated for an infection by an unlicensed nurse, who was later arrested.
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) subsequently announced they would investigate the circumstances of the singer’s death after his body was exhumed on September 21, 2023 but the case has remained unresolved.

But yesterday, Break the Silence Foundation called that the Nigeria Police as a matter of urgency invite Adura Aloba, Cynthia Wunmi Aloba for thorough questioning and be arrested and placed as suspects in the ongoing homicide case.
The NGO also demanded that Mrs. Folashade (Mohbad’s aunty) be invited to corroborate her statement of seeing blanket soaked with blood on the day of Mohbad’s passing. It insisted that there is no way Mohbad bled from any cut from the hand right from September 10 to 12th September the day of his passing.
It also called for the President, Lagos State Governor and the Inspector General of Police to restore public trust and integrity of the Nigeria Police by taking the case away from the Lagos State Police Command if within seven days they fail to bring Adura Aloba and Wunmi in for questioning and invariably retrieve the full video of the three seconds clips sent to him and that the new suspects be charged to court before the end of the first quarter of 2025.
Fabiyi who demanded that the case must not be swept under the carpet added that any Police officer found wanting of aiding or obstructing justice in the case be paraded, disgraced, removed from the force and punished.
Fabiyi said that Mohbad’s death raised significant concerns about the safety and well being of artistes within the Nigerian entertainment industry and other citizens.
“Mohbad’s unresolved death has left fans, family, and colleagues devastated, leading to a nationwide demand for justice and since 2023, Mohbad has not been committed to the mother earth for want of conclusion of investigation in order to unravel the circumstance of his death.
Mohbad’s death has brought to the forefront the alarming questions about possible foul play, including accusation and counter accusation. The snail spate of investigation and corruption beclouding the investigation process is worrisome.
Fabiyi remarked that the public outcry for justice has resonated deeply, calling for a more honest investigation into the circumstances surrounding his passing.
He said Mohbad’s death cannot be watched to slip into the archive of unresolved deaths in Nigeria and that the public cannot stand by while the loved ones and artistes are subjected to abuse, injustice and neglect.
“Right from September 13, 2023, our foundation joined every other Nigerians to demand justice for Mohbad. We must thank the Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu, Lagos State Ministry of Justice and Nigerian Police Force for listening to the voice of the public that period. Also for their resolve that Mohbad must get justice.
“In cases like this, violence is not the worst thing, it is Apathy. We as people and society should understand that it is none of my business does not apply when another person is hurt, persecuted or abused”.
Narrating how Mohbad’s brother, Adura demanded N3 million on TikTok, Fabiyi said: “On December 11, 2024 at about 4.p.m, I was on my TikTok Live canvassing on the efficacy of video evidence and credible witness account in order to get undiluted justice for Mohbad and how I will always hold my end of the bargain with any of the neighbors or persons who offer to help with the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) in both Mohbad’s duplex or any where. I emphasized on the importance of these two if Mohbad will get justice even though the coroner inquest will be additionally useful and vital. I reminded my viewers of my previous fact-finding mission to Royal Pine Estate, Curamed Hospital, Pharmacy etc
At about 4:23p.m, Adura Aloba(Mohbad’s Younger brother) had sent me a DM after listening to me for a while and reacting in the comment section. When he realized I may not see the DM on time, he wrote to the comment section again asking that I check my DM. Lo and behold, he offered to give me a video recording of the fight that ensued between the late singer and his wife. He demanded N3 million. He went further to convince me by narrating how the violence between his brother and his wife resulted into Mohbad falling off the stairs and hitting his head to the floor. Something that can equally be linked to the bent neck in the casket and so much blood some few people found in the house after the singer had passed.
He added: “The conversation went on for a while and with me playing along, I demanded to see at least a proof that the video existed and he requested for my email and shared a three seconds partly censored image to me. When I downloaded, I previewed and there was a violent arguments in the background. I probed further for longer and uncensored images and the negotiation got stuck at that point.
The following morning, I immediately informed the Deputy Commissioner of Police heading the State Criminal Investigating Department(SCID Panti), and the Command Public Relation Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin. The DCP agreed that I could come in with a petition upon request. I submitted a petition to that effect and it was acknowledged.
While I was expecting positive feedback on the new leads from Panti, the next phone call invitation I received was from a Police Officer with the name Shedrack Enabor. He introduced himself as the investigating police officer(IPO), CP Special Squad1. He reliably informed me on a case of impersonation brought to the attention of the Commissioner of Police by Adura Aloba and that I should come so they can intimate me of their findings and progress. I quickly reminded him of my earlier petition on same matter to the SCID of the State Command.
“I attended the CP Special Squad 1. I met the deceased father Mr Joseph Aloba, his lawyer and one Mr. Aiyepareti waiting there. The OC in charge briefed me and shared some detailed efforts. I only noticed from his response and remarks that the case was not harmonised and there is no interest by this team to investigate the confession or extract the source of the three seconds video. At that point they made me understand that their investigation detected it was not Adura Aloba that was chatting with me and made those confession but one Habeeb Damola Ayinde, another close associate of Mohbad, who was equally present in the house when Mohbad died and even joined them in rushing him to the Hospital.
“I requested to see the alleged impersonator and he was brought out. I asked him if he was the one chatting me up and he answered yes. I asked him of the video was from a fight in Mohbad’s house, he said yes but that it was a fight between Wunmi and another member of Mohbad’s crew. I then probed him further on how he had access to Adura’s tiktok account and at this point the Police answered for him. They said Adura sold the phone to Damola in November 2024 but forgot to log out of his tiktok account, hence he had the opportunity to initiate such. I told Damola to his face that I did not believe him. I asked the OC if he has access to a lawyer and he replied No but they gave him a form to fill to demand for one from the Office of The Public Defender(OPD). I told the Damola to ask his family to contact me if he needs a lawyer and I proceed to write my statement and made same witness account.
“If we go by the account of the Police on how Mohbad died, it means all the people in the house present knew it was not a natural death but refused to report to the police. It was when the public noticed his bent neck at point of interment that we demanded discreet investigation as we suspected a foul play. At the end of the day, it is pointing to a murder that occurred within these 16 people or thereabout and it was a joint decision to cover it up and sweep it under carpet by members of his family and a few Police officers. Some persons have been bragging online since then that nothing can be done and we are seeing traces.
“Is there truly some powerful people bigger than the constitution of the land that want to coerce the Nigeria Police Force to sweep such a blatant but heinous crime as murder under the carpet despite series of overwhelming evidence available. Some of these evidence came to light naturally and some ought to unravel via forensic and detailed police investigation but are now looking like they are deliberately ignored by a fragment of the Police with the order or interest of some people in an apparent attempt to cover this crime and allow the killer or killers of Mohbad to walk free.
“Will injustice continue to have a price? Who is trying to perpetually soil the integrity of the Nigeria Police in dirty mud, whose conscience has been bought, to what benefit will covering such a high profile murder case have on the country, the safety of lives, and justice system? If care is not taken, if Mohbad does not get justice through the court, I am scared some may find a way he get it via jungle justice. I do rather want him to get it the right way, reason we are making these voluntary sacrifices.
Adura equally insisted that he sold his phone to his friend who demanded N3 million to release the video and that he had no knowledge of his action. He said he did not log out of his iCloud and his friend continued to use his social media account.
