The Force Public Relations Officer(FPRO) Olumuyiwa Adejobi has said that the Nigeria Police is corrupt because Nigeria is a corrupt country.
Adejobi said this on X yesterday while responding to a followers comment accusing the police of being corrupt.

Nigeria is the 145 least corrupt nation out of 180 countries, according to the 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index reported by Transparency International, while in 2019, a survey released by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) said the police emerged as the most corrupt, with the power sector identified as the second most corrupt in the country.

According to the survey, “a bribe is paid in 54 per cent of interactions with the police. In fact, there is a 63 per cent probability that an average Nigerian would be asked to pay a bribe each time he or she interacted with the police.
The Force spokesperson had tweeted Nigeria Police Green Initiative, which he considered a welcome development for better policing of the country, but a curious followers wrote, Nigeria police are so corrupt why sir, in the comment section and Adejobi responded with ’Because our society is corrupt.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bright Edafe, said: “The police of any society is the product of the society.”
