Wizkid, Asake Jogodo To Spotify’s Peak

The joint project of Ayodeji Balogun popularly knownas Wizkid and Ahmed Ololade known popularly as Asake is currently topping chats, quickly becoming fans favourite.

    Jogodo opened with over 2.5 million on global Spotify streams and maintained its position at number one on Spotify Nigeria. 

  The track immediately signals the scale and intent of the partnership, bringing together two of Nigeria’s most influential artistes at the height of their crafts.

  As at 6:22.p.m Nigeria time and on its third day of release, the three-minute track recorded 8,113,005 streams on Spotify Nigeria. 

The song made a notable entry into Nigerian streaming records with 1.38 million opening-day streams on Spotify in Nigeria, it ranks as the second-biggest debut on the platform in Nigeria, trailing only Wizkid’s Kese (Dance), which opened with 1.57 million streams.

   Jogodo is the lead single from the duo’s forthcoming joint EP REAL, Vol. 1. Effortlessly catchy and deeply soulful, Jogodo is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing projects in recent Afrobeats history.

Jogodo is driven by pulsing percussion and bold brass instrumentation that give the song both movement and weight. The production strikes a balance between groove and punch, allowing the rhythm to breathe while keeping the energy simmering.

The track leans into Nigerian Pidgin, centring on the idea of Jogodo’, a term that could refers to being intoxicatedAsake and Wizkid trade verses with ease, their contrasting but complementary vocal styles blending seamlessly as they move in and out of the rhythm with natural chemistry.

  Wizkid brings his signature calm assurance and global perspective, while Asake injects urgency and street-level energy that defines the current wave of the genre.
